Caption (back) | Portsmouth, Ohio Portsmouth's population is now approaching the 50,000 mark, the city having extended re-boundary to include Sciotoville, and includes all lands "from the Big to the Little Scioto" a distance of seven miles. A school system of acknowledged excellence, and demands for amusement, recreation, and social activities, are amply served. A dependable water system, electric and gas service, street railways, miles of paved streets, in fact, everything to make this a worth while place to live. In Portsmouth, life's worth living. The scenery hereabouts is fair and beautiful, and is famed in song and story. Numerous historical spots are well worth a visit. These include "Raven Rock" and "The Horseshoe Mound" in Mound Park. |
